Catalog editing
This chapter is for the edonto team and invited domain experts who maintain the master catalog – the list of products, components, services and fees that laboratories offer and practices order.
Access
You need an edonto account with the role Catalog editor or Platform admin. A platform admin invites you under Users → New user; you receive an email with a link to set your password. Then sign in at edonto as usual and open /admin (for example https://app.edonto.com/admin).
Security
Platform access requires a verified email address. In production, two-factor authentication must be enabled for your account (see Account & security).
The admin panel uses your edonto language (Settings → Appearance). Catalog content is always maintained in all catalog languages: English, Portuguese (Brazil) and German.
Overview
The Dashboard shows the number of catalog items and how complete each language is. Click a language to see the items that still need a translation.
The Catalog menu contains:
| Menu | What you maintain |
|---|---|
| Catalog items | Products, components, services and fees |
| Categories | Groups of items per area (restorative & prosthetic, orthodontics, services & fees) |
| Option sets | Variants such as zirconia type, finish or alloy |
| Case details | Information the practice is asked for when ordering, such as teeth, shade or acrylic color |
Change history lists every change with date, person and the values before and after.
Find items
Use the search above the list (name or code) or the global search at the top (Ctrl + K). The filter button offers, among others, Domain, Category, Type, Active, Missing translation and Without BEL II code.
Edit an item
Open an item with Edit. The form is divided into sections:
- Names & descriptions – one tab per language. English is required; a missing badge marks languages that still need a text. Use the clinical terms that labs in the respective country use.
- General – category, type, unit, typical production days, tags and Active. The code is permanent and cannot be changed.
- Case wizard – the details a practice has to provide when ordering this item. They never change the price.
- Options (variants) – option sets for this item. Price per value lets labs set a separate price for every value (for example per zirconia type); Information only just records the choice.
- Components – the default bill of materials, for example clasps and springs of a Hawley retainer. Min, Default and Max limit what practices can choose. Add rows with Add component and drag them to change the order.
- Suggested items – items the case wizard proposes together with this one.
- Billing codes – reference codes of national billing systems (BEL II and BEB for Germany, TUSS for Brazil, CDT for the US). They are for information only.
Select Save changes to save.
Deactivate instead of deleting
Items that labs may already use must not be deleted. Switch off Active instead – in the list you can also select several items and choose Deactivate.
To create a similar item, open an existing one and choose Duplicate; enter a new code. Options, components and suggestions are copied.
Codes
Codes identify catalog entries permanently, for example ortho.retainers.hawley. They consist of lowercase letters, digits and underscores, separated by dots, and an item code always starts with its category code. Choose codes carefully – they can't be changed after saving.
Export (platform admins)
Export YAML on the catalog item list downloads the complete catalog as a ZIP file. The development team uses it to review and version changes.
